ForgeOS as an app, without the store.
The app shows the live site, so every change we make reaches it the moment it deploys. Here is how to have it today.
iPhone and iPad
Two ways. Both open to your workspace and keep up with the site by themselves.
- Add it to your Home Screen (now). Open medina19.com/os/chat in Safari, press Share, then Add to Home Screen. It opens full screen, signed in, and shows the site as it is.
- Install the native app over the air (registered devices). When a build has been made for this instance, this page carries an Install ForgeOS link that Safari hands to iOS. It installs only on devices the team registered; the App Store is not involved. No over-the-air build has been made for this instance yet.
The native app adds the share sheet (Ask ForgeOS from any app), Siri and Shortcuts, camera and file attach, and an offline screen. On every return to the foreground it asks the site for its version stamp and reloads when the site changed, so you never install an update to see one. When the site ever needs a newer shell, the app says so and points back here.
Mac
The site installs as an app from Safari or Chrome; ForgeOS also works inside your own browser.
- Add to Dock. In Safari open medina19.com/os/chat, then File → Add to Dock. In Chrome: the install icon in the address bar, or More → Cast, save and share → Install page as app.
- Your own browser. The ForgeOS extension works in your Chrome or Safari, with your own sign-ins, and asks before anything that buys, sends or changes something. Connect it under /os/browser.
What is and is not here
- An over-the-air install link appears only when a signed build exists and its receipt is retained; this page never offers an install that was not made.
- Over-the-air installs reach registered devices only. That is Apple's rule for apps outside the store, not ours.
- Nothing on this page is a store listing, and the native app is not on the App Store today.
